My argument is that a fourth sub-category of mm exists which goes unrecognized by most scholars. In addition both parties agree that the concept of multiple murders is differentiated into the same three main sub-categories. To my opinion, this argument is more a semantic one than a fundamental one, as long as we consider each type of these murders as a unique phenomenon, with its own and unique characteristics. Other scholars claim that those "sub categories", are a whole different phenomenon, which are worthy and needed a separate examination and discussion because its uniqueness. Many perpetrators compose manifestos, which include journals, blogs, letters, videos, and other writings. Mass murder in the United States is increasing, yet understanding of mass murderers is still relatively limited. Death by suicide or at the hands of others is the usual outcome for the mass murderer.Ĭommon Psycholinguistic Themes in Mass Murderer Manifestos A large proportion of subjects will convey their central motivation in a psychological abstract, a phrase or sentence yelled with great emotion at the beginning of the mass murder but in our study sample, only 20 percent directly threatened their victims before the offense. A warrior mentality suffuses the planning and attack behavior of the subject, and greater deaths and higher casualty rates are significantly more likely if the perpetrator is psychotic at the time of the offense. The mass murder is precipitated by a major loss related to employment or relationship.
